Homeland
Security: OSU researchers were developing technologies that
would keep America safe long before September 11. A national
focus on homeland security drew attention to OSU, and consequently,
the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education pledged
$19M to OSU’s Homeland Security Initiative. OSU has
leveraged those funds to finance new laboratories, including
state-of-the-art facilities operating at the Oklahoma Technology
and Research Park and new biosafety laboratories on campus.
With support from the state and numerous federal agencies,
OSU researchers remain engaged in the development of new
technologies to secure the nation against terrorist attacks.
