License Agreement. License agreements covering
patents, copyrights, and other intellectual property are prepared
in conjunction with OSU Office of Legal Counsel. The Office of
Intellectual Property Management will negotiate the
terms and prepare and review the necessary documents involved in

Material Transfer Agreement. A Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) is a legal agreements between the provider of a biological material and the receiving party. It is important because it: 1) protects intellectual property and/or patent rights; 2) establishes legal guidelines for the distribution of the material; and 3) protects you and your research from legal liability as a result of an accident. Research Collaborative Agreement/Contract. An Agreement or contract with non-federal funding sources is a complicated legal document that requires special care and handling in order to protect your data, ideas, and research. Uniform Biological Material Transfer Agreement. A Uniform Biological Material Transfer Agreement (UBMTA) is a streamlined Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) developed by the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM) for transfer of biological materials between non-profit institutions. Signatory institutions registered with AUTM (such as OSU) may use the UBMTA to exchange biological materials with other registered institutions easily and efficiently.
